How not to learn from history

It doesn't always pay to have faith,

A man shouting that God would keep him safe was mauled to death by a lioness in Kiev zoo after he crept into the animal's enclosure, a zoo official said on Monday.
Most perplexing. How could God let this happen?
"The man shouted 'God will save me, if he exists', lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions," the official said.
And they killed him. Well, I guess that wraps up that age old question. Sorry christians, you've been living a lie all these years. Your life is meaningless.

Ok, I know. The whole existence of god doesn't hinge on some stupid stunt some guy pulls. The guy was obviously a complete dickhead. I mean, what was he thinking? Lions, was he mad? Well yes obviously he was mad but like, didn't he ever hear of the Romans? Talk about irony, and if I'm using that word incorrectly, don't hesitate to point it out to me.

And the irony just piles on when you consider that this guy has almost certainly earned himself a Darwin Award. He certainly deserves one.

This is where the expression, "God helps those who help themselves" comes into play. Being of a right-wing persuasion, the Almighty naturally expects people to be self-motivated, showing initiative, and a willingness to work. He certainly wouldn't look kindly on this cheap stunt designed purely to get Him to reveal Himself. This guy was no doubt unemployed, drawing benefit, as this display of "wanting something for nothing" shows. He deserved to die.

God doesn't help stupid people. "Thou shall not be stupid" was the 11th commandment. It was on the 3rd tablet that Moses accidentally dropped on the way down from the mountain.

Looks like God was having a nap. Then again isn't God suppose to be everywhere?

God may be everywhere, but if he was asleep, he may have missed this incident. Then again maybe he's just a total asshole and let the guy die. And laughed while it was happening too. I don't blame him, who needs dickheads like that representing you, they're just an embarrassment.

I'm compelled to be honest here. I think the word "stupid", as popularly understood is meaningless. People do stupid things, but I doubt there are stupid people. However, I have a strong suspicion, when it's used indiscriminately, its use is, by implication, to elevate the user to some nebulous level of "cleverness", or "okay-ness".

I think the guy was obviously an atheist and he sacrificed himself that there is no god who takes any interest in the lives of humans.

Actually, Christians have a long history of being killed by lions. Goes back to our earliest times.
