'twas the festival of fertility and rebirth, or if you like, dead guy on a stick day (was that it) or as I like to call it and will continue hammering on about until I tire of it or forget it, which likely will be soon, Zombie Appreciation Day. Or it still is, I'm not sue of the status of Easter Tuesday, if that even is a thing, here or anywhere else. Anyway, Holiday.
And oh how busy I've been! Sort of. Though I didn't actually go to work or do any work or do anything related to the organizing of future work that will bring much needed money that has more or less run out (both any work I seemed to be doing and the money) and it would be in my defense to state that it was a holiday and there's not so many opportunities for job seeking around at a time like this except it doesn't make much more than the slightest difference considering the sort of work I do if I ever get around to doing it, where I am and the resources I use to get that information, so only little excuses only there.
What I have been doing is cleaning my room, oh wait I procrastinated but I actually did it the next day, I spoke like a ghost and I ate garlic, and lemon.
Apart from that not much apart from the usual flupping around on the internet and watching tv.
Yes they are all shameless links to my videos. Don't watch them though, they're dumb.

It's Good
On this.. well not on this day, what do you call it when you celebrate a day that represents something that was supposed to happen at a certain time adjacent to another holiday that's based on the phases of the moon or the tides or something? Well that, on this that, Jesus our alleged Lord and Saviour, supposedly died a slow and agonizing death on the cross.
Now if you've read enough of the posts on this blog that have any coherent thought to them (admittedly that does narrow things down a bit) then you'll know that I'm rather skeptical that this event ever happened, and indeed that there ever really was a Jesus, if that's even his real name, but nevertheless, that is supposedly why we celebrate this holiday of Easter.
It's really a brilliant bit of PR by the Catholic church to name the whatever you call it versary of that day Good Friday. I think it goes something like being crucified allowed Jesus to die so he could rise and go to Heaven and and thus be able to provide salvation (finally) for sinners, which is all people, who were pretty much born guilty. Something along the lines of Jesus died on the cross which paid for everyone's sins, eg existing as we're born sinners and all that so ta Jesus, was swell of you. I mean you still have to jump through some hoops to get it, and which hoops differ according to who you ask, but this, as far as I know (which admittedly isn't a whole lot) is why the whatever it is of the day of Jesus' rather grim death, is called "Good".
Have a good day.

Just popping in..
to say hi.
Hi.
Been quiet again. Same old thing nothing to write about and when there's something to write about it's something I don't really want to write about and when it's something I would like to write about it's something I don't want to share and when it's something I'm ok sharing I can't be bothered.
Pretty much that.
Easter weekend was nice, no eggs here, not much chocolate even but beer, always the beer.

I give you to tomorrow.
It's cold again, actually snowing, or it was I don't know if it still is I closed the blind so I wouldn't have to look at the greyness and falling snow and people in big fat puffy jackets and yes, we have a whole extra hour of daylight to enjoy it woop e doo.
Tomorrow is April. If by April there hasn't been a major change I'll.. I'll. I'll just.. be very very grumpy.
Oh and Happy Easter. Or whatever.
3.29.2013
Just stop for a second.
And think about what happened on this day in, well not this day particularly, the same day of the week (Friday which it is) after whatever it is, the phase of the moon or whatever after the vernal equinox or whatever the thing it's based on is.. of year.. 1..0.. whenever.
Anyway think about what happened. Jesus was (after having to schlep it himself, no less) was thrust up onto a cross to.. well suffer and stuff. It was horrible, and he did it for you! Yes, you! He chose to suffer like this to save your from you own dastardly, nasty, icky sins. Well, that is if you've received him into your heart etc etc.. and me.. well not me because actually I haven't done that really, but you know what I mean.. anyway, think about it for a second.
Ok that's about a second. When is it that we get the chocolate. oh and it's a long weekend.. cool, I hope it gets warm enough to sit outside for a bit with the heavy jacket and have a beer. You really should be able to do at least that by Easter.

arrrggghhh!
It had to go and rain!
*grumbles and stuff*
and I had such good ideas to.. *rethinks stuff*
4.24.2011
All at once.. as usual.
Lots o stuff at the moment. Well for me.. yeah I always say that but it's true, normal people would consider this a slow week but for me.. etc etc etc..
Moving soon, so the place is a complete mess right now.. a total shambles, which is slightly annoying but I'm glad about being in a nice shiny new place soon.. not so much about the this bit, the moving bit, the being in the new place before everything is set up.. and in fact before we have much stuff bit, but if we could fast forward to the day when we have a perfectly furnished and decorated domicile, that would be cool. Actually started moving.. sorta, because we can. I find that cool.
Oh it's Easter.. Easter Sunday that is.. so I decorated eggs and stuff.. and the usual.. you know.. nothing else actually, except for posing for a photo in my ghost hunter's uniform for the website.. to go with my bio.. *gets all embarrassed at how cheesy it all is and stuff*.. kind of noyin to have to go in on a weekend again.. when I'm not actually working again, and for this weekend, a long weekend aga.. er.. well yeah, but it was ok, we incorporated a walk into it all and had a pleasant day.
There isn't much else really. I always make such a big deal out of having a few things to do. Have a happy easter all.

Pollen and bunnies and.. flat bread and stuff...
It's a week o holidays it is! Well... much of the world is celebrating the suffering and dying of their saviour on the cross today.. I know.. bo-ring! But.. it does bring later on.. (during that whole.. commemoration of him rising all that nicer but still boring stuff) chocolate and bunnies and for those of us in this part of the world.. whipping and throwing water on people.. so it's ok..
It's also Passover.. which is a Jewish holiday, basically.. we were enslaved in Europe then we were freed and we left and went to what is now the holy land.. awesome, let's eat! There's also a reading and something vaguely theatrical.. (correct me if I'm bumbling pathetically here).
Oh and Saturday (tomorrow) is children's day in Turkey. According to my source, Turkey is the first country ever to celebrate children's day! I actually don't know of any other country who does.. so they might still be the only one, I should google it but whatev.. they're definitely the first.
So happy those things, any other holidays there might be, various birthdays and name days happening today, lovely spring weather, beautiful autumn or the fact that you live in one of those places that's just warm all year. And anything I left out.

Another post! Oh my...
I've been persuaded to post again today by a reader.. rather by the very fact that someone is actually reading and commenting.. so here I am.
So Erik left this morning. It was a relatively tearless parting, I'm quite stoic and able to amuse myself for 2 weeks (that's if I have my stuff, you know.. like computer.. internet.. but none of that now) and Cooley appeared to be blissfully unaware of just what was going on.
So how have I been spending this Easter Sunday on my own? Well, for the first half of the day mostly pissing about on the internet, having fun tracking the flight and my usual stuff. After about 6 or something the computer shut down (as it has been wont to do occasionally since time of purchasing but usually hasn't caused too much drama) and it didn't restart itself as it does when it usually shuts down (see previous brackets). It sorta did this the other night too but it came back and started working normally again (occasionally restarting itself for no reason or alternatively giving me the blue screen of death for no reason).
So anyway, it just did that no signal thing and the screen went black. So I had to shut the comp down with the button. I tried to turn it back on and it gave the black screen. So I waited. After waiting it still did the black screen. Oh shit am I going to go through all this again.. well I did that again a couple of times. I took the side of the comp and fiddled around in there and cleaned the fan, then I turned it on and heard the beep so I thought cool it's working but it got stuck on some screen and that was it. For a few hours I alternated between waiting, fiddling around inside the comp, turning it on and getting the black screen, or turning it on and getting it starting up and getting stuck on a different screen every time.
Then I started it and it worked normally but turned itself off after about 4 minutes. Fortunately it came back on normally and that's what I'm working on now but who knows how long it will last.
So anyway that's what I've been doing with myself all day. Well.. and this..

It's a tolerable Friday.
Easter has begun. If one were to pick a particular day that is "Easter Day" though the holiday is more a half week than a day per se, but if one insisted then one would have to choose Sunday. Well, one wouldn't have to it just seems the most appropriate day. However, as I said Easter is more a half week than a day and therefore this Friday (apparently a "good" one) is more Easter proper than say.. boxing day is proper Christmas, though not necessarily more than xmas eve is xmas if you live in a country that puts the focus more on the eve than the day but I'm getting kind of off the point so..
Happy Easter those that celebrate. Happy Jesus' day o suffering if you're into that and happy chocolate if you're into that.
Oh and that stuff I said yesterday? I've been convinced that it's malarkey. Of course, I may have been pulling one's collective leg with that whole post.. if you know what I mean. And I think.. you know what I mean.
So yeah.. bunnies and eggs and switches and all that.

The True Meaning of Breakfast.
And we eat eggs. Well mostly chocolate manufactured to look like eggs but there's significance about eggs in there. Now.. some people *sniffs haughtily* think it's to do with some alleged "Pagan" origins of this exclusively from it's very beginning Christian holiday.. about spring and fertility and other obscene stuff like that, but you and I know it's utterly ridiculous and has no bearing on reality no we won't waste time on nonsense like that, *rolls eyes* but this brings up the question of where the egg custom comes from. It doesn't seem to make sense in the light of what we've decided we know.
Oh and that bit about how I used to believe in more complex histories of our current customs and didn't really believe in god and that everything that's written in the bible is exactly how it says it was and all that.. well I changed my mind.
Anyway, back to the main point. Eggs. What do they have to do with our Lord and Saviour dying for our souls in a particularly horrific manner? It's quite simple really.. for his last meal.. (this is a custom that goes way back to the Romans, did you know that?) which was breakfast, he ordered eggs. Fried eggs. No bacon, for obvious reasons and a few fried onions and mushrooms on the side. And that's it. Seems like a bit of a letdown after all that really.
Now the bunnies on the other hand, are a different story.

What's so good about it then?
Today is "Good" Friday. So called because on this day* 2000 and something years ago** the son of God, our Lord and Saviour, the nicest, sweetest, goodest guy ever, who could do awesome shit like cure blindness was run up a cross and executed in a particularly gruesome manner by some goons, er Jews. Romans. Somebody, for some reason. And believe me we're pissed off at these people.
Then after 3 days he rose from the dead and went up to heaven, which is a bit of a ripoff after all the crying and wailing that went on, and which we're still expected to do to this day even though we know how the story ends. I'm reckoning that's where the "good" comes in, seeing that not only was the event understandably a quite happy one, but saved humanity at the same time, so not a bad couple of days work. Of course on Friday we're not supposed to know this yet, and still be in the weeping and carrying on stage so I don't think it's entirely accurate. Or it's just good because it's got something to do with Jesus and that's good enough for me. Them that is, whoever cares about stuff like this.
It actually is a pretty good Friday for me, here, now. I'm having a day off from doing what I usually do*** and it's sunny and warm and I'm looking forward to a pleasant day. Beergardens may be involved.
*I know, I know it's not the calendar day but the first Friday after the fourth full moon or some jazz like that.. I'm just sayin.
**Actually if Jesus died when he was 33, and this is 2009 then that would make it 1976 years, that's if Jesus' official birth wasn't made up later by some emperor according to what was convenient and has no bearing on how anything was, and if any of it actually ever happened, which as far as I'm concerned is pretty unlikely.
**Not a whole lot as it happens, but still...

Give us a break already..
before I start ranting, I have to add that it's come to my attention that this actually isn't such a big deal and this has been going on in other, more capitalist parts of the world for some time but...
I was shopping at the supermarket earlier, and passed the veggie section and went to the part where they tend to have.. stuff, chocolates, seasonal stuff er.. stuff like..
chocolate bunnies!!! yes that's what I saw, chocolate fucking easter fucking bunnies!!!
I mean, we only just got over christmas! Now I'm going to calm down.
Ok, some people who live in English speaking parts of the world said they've had chocolate eastery stuff in the shops they go to since about after the new year, so this is nothing special. Talk about a letdown, I took a photo and everything but it didn't come out too good so it ain't going up anywhere. Not sure why we're behind those places in pushing family/capitalist/religious/chocolate eating holidays actually, we're pretty big on those here strangely enough, the only thing I can think of is that they waited until after they pushed chocolate hearts and shit on us for Valentine's day, something that isn't supposed to be such a big deal here but you do get the merchandise all the same, and thus we got until the 3rd week of Feb to be free of Easter. I could be wrong, in fact I probably am.

No ideas whatsoever..
And on this day many years ago...Jesus died.
He was dragged from his house in his pajamas, strung up onto a cross, (after he dragged it into town himself after going out into the woods and chopping down the trees and then cutting up the planks of wood and nailing them together) his hands and feet were NAILED into the wood and he was left up there.....
And it goes on. I took some photos as well that day. Including this one of a rather unusual building on the street I lived at the time.
4.09.2007
Something seasonal-ish
I went outside for the time it took me to walk here this morning, and I'm not missing much being here, there's no one out there at all, it seems as if the whole city has left the city. It's just as well because if anybody tried to whack me with anything anywhere I'd have to kill them, and I don't want to be bothered with hauling bodies around or anything.
So, Happy Easter (if it's getting on the late side) from my little eggie weggies you see here. These fellows owe their very existence to my aspirations of being a great thespian, as they were my activity for my class last Wednesday. I came up with the idea to decorate eggs for it, and spent Tuesday night and Wednesday boiling and coloring eggs, to get them ready to be drawn on in the evening. I carried a bunch of eggs to class, and then due to there being a high turnout of people, and one scene taking so long, I didn't end up doing it. I shan't be using the idea again, there isn't a class til Wednesday and it just wouldn't work, so I have to go through the whole tedious coming up with something again.
So, no class tonight, due to bunnies, eggs, a guy named Jesus dying and springing back to life, and lots of chocolate.

I know which bit I want.
Chocolate Jesus.. mmm.
I thought Catholics were into eating Jesus?A New York gallery has angered a US Catholic group with its decision to exhibit a milk chocolate sculpture of Jesus Christ.
The six-foot (1.8m) sculpture, entitled "My Sweet Lord", depicts Jesus
Christ naked on the cross.
Catholic League head Bill Donohue called it "one of the worst assaults on Christian sensibilities ever".You're being a bit dramatic there aren't you? Ever is a long time.. they used to throw you in the Collosseum with lions remember. I fail to see how this compares.
The Catholic League, which describes itself as the nation's largestWell, you know, Easter/eating body of Christ, it works. How would you have liked it if they just had a giant bunny on "Holy Week" huh? I bet you'd be complaining about that too.
Catholic civil rights organisation, also criticised the timing of the
exhibition. "The fact that they chose Holy Week shows this is calculated,
and the timing is deliberate," Mr Donohue said.
Mr Cavallaro, the Canadian-born artist, is known for using food ingredients in his art, .... he used 200 pounds (90 kg) of chocolate to make the sculpture which, unusually, depicts Jesus without a loincloth. He he. Nude chocolate Jesus.
