It's a great word, but I think it deserves a better meaning, something that relates to the word itself. I was thinking of one of those cup holders, structured like trees, allowing cups or mugs to be hung from them - "the mugs? Oh, you'll find plenty hanging on the mugwump in the kitchen!". Good innit?
Yeah... it sounds appropriate. Mugwump should totally be something to do with mugs...
it could also be a funny expression pulled by a somewhat foolish person.. ie silly look on their "mug"...
or it could be both... you should be able to tell which one is referred to by the context.. usually..
