Sprung!

blooming..

It's Spring.

11.23.2015

Been a quiet month..

well, I've been quiet here, this city has been quiet relative to recent months and most likely next month. The world hasn't been quiet but the world never really is, some things just get out attention more. It's decided it's winter here after a mild and almost warm late-ish autumn. It's a bit of a shock really, not sure I like it, but that's the way the seasons go, it's hot it's cold and in between it's usually overcast and drizzly and forgettable. Thus is life.

A leaf falls..

a darkness falls over the earth (ok in this particular time zone and hemisphere anyway, but just bear with me) and the cold bites like, something with teeth, sharp enough to bite. Yes, it's Autumn. In the northern hemisphere anyway at least in those areas that have seasons and where autumn begins about as early as this. The year is showing a wrinkle on it's brow and starting to think about it's latter days. Seriously any minute now the xmas shit is going to show up, won't be long. So it's already September, the late part of this year anno domino or however you say it 2000 and fifteen and again what the hell have I done all year? A fair bit, in some ways. A lot has changed and I've moved my life pretty far I'm not sure if I'd call it forward but to another place. I haven't done much of what I want to do, and what I've wanted to do for years, yet again, but I have done, um, stuff. Some stuff, not great stuff but some. But I talk too soon. It's only September. I still have all of autumn to crunch on the leaves that will be falling abundantly any minute now, and to walk around in the beautiful orange of autumn, and snap a bunch of shots some of which won't be all that bad, like I always do. And do more stuff. I can still do something this year and not just the somethings that I've done that is quite different to the years past, at least the recent ones, but the stuff I never do, or seldom do or don't do in enough quality and quantity. I can still do it. Most importantly, there is still time, I mean it's pushing it a bit but there's still time for the hoverboards to show up.

When there's nothing to say..

Spring showing...

One can enjoy the prettiness. Happy Spring world.

Well the Northern (if you look at the world the traditional way) part of it anyway.

At least those parts of that hemisphere that gets actual weather, and seasons that are not described primarily as "dry" or "wet".

Well the regions within those parts of the Northern Hemisphere that isn't too cold all year to really get much of a spring, or is having another long winter in the fashion of last yesr that they can't seem to break, and possibly haven't yet.

Think I've covered it.

It might be a seasonal thing..

but it seems like things are happening.

and when I say seasonal.. I'm not trying to say for sure that the season is different than the one it was.. certainly not.. just because it was.. well..a  few degrees warmer today, and sunny, and the forecast says it will get warmer still.. and warmer still after that.. no.. no difference.. no major difference.. same old thing just, possibly temporarily, slightly warmer..

but.. still.. it seems.. somehow..

I'm not sure what it seems.. it's probably nothing. Did another sorta acting thing tonight.. just said some lines.. had some beers after.. it was fun.

I won't say any more.

I think I understand "other people" a bit..

It's so beautiful, so white and magical and.. white and snowy and.. white.. yeah it snowed again. It's been doing that. It did it last week and then it kind of went away, snowed a little more then went away... then it went away and was grey and ugly for a few days and it continued cold but I thought, it's got to be over it.. got to be out of it's system now all there is left to do is for it to warm up, and bloom, and stuff. And it snowed. It's slightly warmer than it was but at this point I want weather that's appropriate for a different season altogether and nothing less. I mean, it is beautiful, if I'd gotten this 2 months or even a month ago, which I did, and quite a lot really.. I would be.. oh pretty. Ok by about the 4th week of having this regularly it was more like.. "oh, it's still snowing" *closes blinds* but you know, none of the grumbling that normal people do as soon as there's a hint of snow, none of the flashbacks to getting up at the crack of dawn to sweep tons of snow off the porch so dad can drive into town back in the old town.. but ya know.. it's kinda bugging me now.

Just the right balance..

12 hours (or thereabouts) of daylight.. and then 12 (or something kinda closeish to that) of night. I think it works. Well that's what we should have today, it is the spring equinox (in the northern hemisphere) and well the other equinox in the other hemisphere, so pretty much everyone everywhere should be getting the same hours of light and dark.. not just us on the 50th parallel or whatever.. isn't that nice?

It's also pretty awesome that it's spring, officially.. or so they say and it was actually warm today. And I saw flowers.. little yellow blossoms, they're out. The yellow ones bloom much earlier than the others, I've found.

Happy Spring! (or autumn if that's what it is where you are, or happy another hot day if that's what it's like where you are).

Who turned out the lights?

The days really get short so quickly, I've noticed. I mean, it's obvious why when the end of daylight savings comes, you get an instant hour's difference, that's understandable.. but from then on it just gets shorter and shorter by the second. I'm not sure that makes much sense, but I've noticed in the mornings.. you get the extra hour then, but within a few weeks it still dark by 7am or so.. and on a day that's dark by 4pm.

I think it might be getting to me, I know there's an actual syndrome, SAD or SAP or something, standing for.. seasonal, something that starts with an A and then something else, and it's not hard to understand why. It's bloody dark all the time! You get up a bit later in the morning on the weekend, hang about a bit, get showered and all, and it's already sunset if not completely dark by the time you set foot outside. It's crap! Who the hell organized it this way? I think we should do it differently, like, have about an extra hour per day overall, but you can take a few hours off June days, we really don't need to have daylight until 10 or so, and and give it to December and November.. that's how I think they should do it.. who do you have to write to to have something done about it?

Oh, look at those colours!

I really like this time of year, strangely. I mean I never look forward to it so much during that time that summer is coming to an end, and I envisage and end to the warm, exciting fun filled days that actually haven't come around yet.. but, once it's fairly into September, with wacky wine festivals happening, and lots of birthdays and events and yes.. a very silly season (ok, I like it, sue me!) coming in the next months.. it starts to fee more.. festive.

I mean it's getting colder, and the days are shorter, both things I could do without.. however, there is this wonderful thing that the trees do in autumn and.. well, I must say I'm quite a fan. And I don't live near a splendid forest, and the leaves here change to predominantly yellow hues, rather than red (not that there's anything wrong with yellow, but it is truly splendid to see a forest of bright red leaved trees, mixed in with orange and yellow) but, Prague's a pretty city, and the changing o the leaves only improves it.

So where am I going with this? Well.. I'd barely noticed it this year. We've had a stretch of gloomy weather.. not terrible weather, not so cold, and not much rain but day after day of grey sky. Usually there's some sun this time of year and well.. at least every couple of days but the grey just went on and on. It was particularly vexing because the forecast at the beginning of last week said all week would be sunny, and it, like, wasn't.

But finally yesterday was a gorgeous sunny day, with a bright blue sky and little fluffly clouds and oh.. you could see it, beautiful yellow and orange trees, leaves falling as you walk, and piles and piles littering the sidewalk, just ready to be kicked about as if a silly kid was walking along there instead of me. Yes, I did kick the leaves about.

That's about it.

The month o' March is upon us..

Can we take that to mean the winter is like.. totes over and stuff? I mean, where I come from the season changes at the beginning of the month, always. Well at least I think so, or I never really thought about it and always treated it like that anyway.. maybe it's because western culture bases everything on what goes on in the northern hemisphere so we (southern hemisphereans) figure we'll just start them on the 1st.. that is if 'we" indeed do.. *ponders it, considers googling it but can't be bothered*...

so.. I know spring is supposed to begin on the 21st, in the north, or in Europe or, I dunno, here anyway, but why don't we just start it on the 1st? I think it's better that way.

And once again...

We have here a photo based post.

Today is the first day of spring, here in the Northern Hemisphere.. in the parts which begin spring around the equinox, according to some sites anyway..

Well it might be. It's warmed up considerably here so I'm happy to say it's spring, though it's not as sunny as I'd like. And in other weather news... :) Ok enough of that. Here's a pic from last year to celebrate this occasion.

Blooming

And happy autumn for those in the southern hem that enjoy the changing seasons.
