There's something in the air...

I think it might be silliness.

Yes, that season is upon us, almost upon us, or well on it's way to getting closer to upon us. For me, it's here. My birthday is soon, which for me is always a chance to commiserate, celebrate, go nuts, get mopey, and drink.. and then after that, well it's practically December. From here to Jan it's.. well.. any excuse to be as silly as possible to disguise the fact that it's horribly awful and depressing this time of year, and this particular year is a particularly awful and depressing one, if one cares at all about things like one's livelihood, which it must be confessed one does.. which mostly consists of drinking a whole lot.

I'm not sure if that sentence works or not, but quite frankly, I don't care. I'm being silly.

Well anyway, for the moment I'm not melancholy at all.. I'm rather joyful, and even hopeful, strangely enough. Can't for the life of me figure out why. I've only had a little wine tonight.

Hey, no need to apologise to me. I've known you long enough to be fairly comfortable with your "ways", and I hope you're okay with mine too.

You're birthday? May I ask how old you are now? I think you were 32 when we first met (my god, that's virtually pre-pubescent... could I have been arrested for consorting with you?).

Okay, you don't have to tell me... but I can guess. Have to say, you're not looking too bad for an old 'un. :-) ** breaks out into "happy upcoming Birthday to you..."

I am... well will be 37. And yes, I plan to go through the whole.. waa.. I'm even older than I was and that's really really old and it doesn't feel grown up and it can now be accurately said I'm in my late 30s.. same thing every year.. now I wish I was 32.. it seems real young to me now..

I need to stop pondering this aspect of the whole thing.. :Z

Maybe ageing is a different experience for females, but I have to say, I don't think my life started till I hit forty. Sounds like a cliche, but it's true. True to form I had the mid-life-crisis, buying fine clothes and going out as often as I could, boozing, etc. Fortunately, I slowed down to resemble the fine figure, character, and personality you see before you now :-) You can rest assured I'll still talk to you no matter how old you get :-)

Well.. I don't think I mind so much either.. or maybe I do.. well, I intend to keep going on, in my childish way, thinking I'm still young or something for a long time, it's just when the numbers change it always seems like such a bigger one than the previous one, which is silly, because.. well, you know what I don't know... in 5 years I'll be thinking how young I was when I was still in my 30s, 5 years after that I'll pine for the days o 5 years before and it will continue like that.. so I might as well just enjoy being what I am now...

easy enough to say..

I'll confess to feeling depressed on my 50th. Don't know why, but it descended on me with such force I had to go out and by a digital television receiver - yes, it was that powerful! Was none to keen when my 60th passed either, but I'm coming to terms with it. Truth is, it's not me that's bothered so much as others. In my experience, you're expected to play a particular role depending on your age. Well fuck that for a game of cricket! I'm not letting the bastards grind me down. Apologies for the cliches :-)

Anyway, you're a hot chick. You've not changed much over the years. Enjoy that knowledge.

aw shucks... *blushes*

I admit, one of the reasons I go on about it so is because inevitably people who didn't know my age previously will tell me how much younger I look.. I don't know if I believe it completely.. I mean, a little younger ok, but people push it sometimes, but I do like to hear it..

ok I'll admit it.. yes, it's true there's an element of.. I've done so little..and am so childish for my age.. but a lot of it is.. I'm aging, getting older, and I'm going to look older as the years go by.. most of it actually... yes and women deal with that more than men I think..

Ronald said...

Gosh! I can't believe you're 37! :-) Seriously, judging from the photographs (which is all I can go by) you do look much younger. Trust me, I frequent a social-networking cum epal site, and I get to see a lot of pics of women your age and younger too... believe me, you can thank your parents for your genetics! Still, it's not all about looks is it... I get tired of folks banging on about my gorgeousity, I much prefer to be complimented on my writing. Oh well, it's the cross us beautiful people have to bear I suppose... think not you? :-)

Michelle said...

hehe.. yeah.. I actually like compliments on looks, to a certain degree.. I dunno, a kind of pathetic insecurity I guess but it's probably one a lot of women share.. but I get all embarrassed if it gets too much, and of course, I like to be known as someone who's clever and talented and stuff as well.. like, if I get comments on photos, self portraits mostly I do that are about how hot I am.. or more how hot "she" is because they assume someone else is the photographer, it seriously annoys me, partly because it's meaningless really, it's the thing to say on photos of women, and partly because, well, I do it to be all artistic and stuff.. :) and I much prefer comments on how good or interesting the photo is.. just for an example...

Time to "big" myself up Don't know if you noticed over the years, but I always shied away (except on odd occasion) from focusing on your obvious charms. Instead I opted for the silly, witty, or "appreciation of your skills" approach. There was no way I was going to be identified with that horny, salivating, over-testosteroned rabble.

Michelle said...

Hehe... actually it never occurred to me, I just thought of you as someone who likes the blog, has similar interest in what is the line between trivial, stupendously important and amusing or whatever it is that our blogs have in common :)

not sure what I was getting that there, I'm trying to avoid blushing.

I am quite flattered though, that someone who takes as much care and writes so beautifully admires my largely incoherent ramblings.. it helps motivate me to keep doing this..

Ronald said...

I used to have a silly crush on you, hence the "non-specific" demands, remember? Now I'm alternating between blushing and cringeing. Anyway, yes, I've always liked your blog style. It's simply you; you don't try to sound like anyone else. ** sound of football crowd chanting - there's only one Mutant Kat... etc ** Sorry, I get carried away.

I have this gift for stopping conversations. Chortle.

Michelle said...

well.. who says it's stopped :)

Are we going for the comment record, set a couple of months ago? It exceeded 20 I think?

An appropriate WV, I kid you not, "wimmin". If it had an exclamation mark at the end that would say it all. Grin.

I think the spelling is enough to convey whatever it is you seem to be conveying :)

Banter, my dear girl, a gentle tease :-)

sphitose?

Michelle said...

er... I think that means..

hmm.. only thing I can think of is foot fetishy :Z

Ronald said...

Ah yes, drooling over a foot! :-)

Michelle said...

yeah.. I've come across a few people like that, over the years on the internet :/

Ronald said...

Trying hard not to ask for details :-)

I have a fetish, but it's for the entire body. How perverse am I? Sheesh!

Michelle said...

hehe.. that's actually considered "normal" I believe..

and I don't like to judge people for whatever turns them on, but some foot people can be kinda direct in ways that us innocent poster of the odd foot photo aren't entirely comfortable with... is all I'm sayin...

Ronald said...

Psst! Go on, tell me. I wont tell another soul, I promise :-)

Michelle said...

well.. if you're really curious I have a few feet photos on Flickr, and some of the comments are there in plain view.. and you can also check out the people who post them, see what they're all about..

I've gotten a few weird private mails.. one from a guy who offered to buy a pair of my old socks :) and a few others, not exclusively by foot people...

You influenced me to comment on FB in the "What's on your mind" section. Thanks ;-)

Seriously, I get a lot of inspiration from chatting online, especially the silliness. You're always good for exciting my muse :-)

Michelle said...

aw thanks.. it is true though.. some of the more informal stuff on the internet is the best..

ok.. as I may have mentioned elsewhere.. I'm off outside, on this beautiful sunny, freezing cold day to go and hang out by the river, and see some ducks :)

Ronald said...

Thanks for the chat. We must do it again sometime, though may I suggest we do it through the usual channel next time? S'up to you though :-)
