What I've been doing..

Hey.. another month!

It's June now. Still not working, still not ready to start for one reason or another, it's raining, still not doing any theatre and still haven't finished editing the one small very modest video we shot a few months ago and haven't gotten a chance to do the other shoot that's been on the agenda for months because it keeps raining on the weekend. I have some new videos, well one.. it's nothing, I just made it so I'd have at least one single upload for the month, and didn't manage to edit the other one yet (see above) because of an inability to use audio editing software, partly anyway.. and of course I didn't make, edit or do any all month otherwise... and I have another that's not really new, actually it's about a month old, the one I uploaded at the end of last month so I'd have something... but no one's looked at it yet so it's kinda new.

I mean, the whole point of setting myself the modest goal of uploading one fucking thing at least a month was to motivate me to make these videos, edit, upload and have a whole lot of material, get better and better at doing this stuff.. but, every month I manage to scrape through, quickly editing something or shooting something pointless just so I have one.. I'm going to have to set myself more difficult or specific goals, I think.. something I can easily fail at.. maybe I'd do better :). I don't know.. maybe I should stop worrying about any of this and just, get a job already.

I wish it would stop raining.

Updates schmupdates!

Just how often do you have to update a site? I'm not expecting an answer on that one, it probably "depends" and there isn't a clear cut time frame anyway, just.. "often" I suppose.. or "often enough" which is usually yearly, or bi-yearly or quarterly even depending on various things about the site which I can't figure out.

My personal answer is "too bloody often". I think that some of them update just because  you're like, supposed to, so they tweak things a tiny bit, they rearrange buttons, make it look slightly different so you have to get used to things all over again, sometimes put in a new feature which is useful for someone somewhere but I've never been able to figure out who, and they always, "literally" always get rid of some universally useful, nay necessary feature which it's a no brainer that you should have. Like being able to rearrange things by date for instance. This should be on everything! Everything that comes in lists anyway.. and it should automatically go to reverse chronological in fact that's how everything should by default be ordered always without exception but what do they do instead? They get rid of the possibility of arranging your list like that at all? While adding some other useless feature that no one will ever use or want to use for anything ever, and putting a border around the buttons which pretty much exclusively looks crap.

Oh and other stuff.. but that's the example I can think of now.. but they're always doing it, always!

*goes off and grumbles about facebook and youtube and whatever*

Oh yeah.. the world.

It's supposed to be ending in what.. 3 days now? Don't know what time or what time zone of that time this whatever it is is suppose to happen.. did the Mayans specify that? Well anyway, if in fact the world does end or there is such a profound change in our life here on earth that it's like.. really different, then, I spose I should do something. Something big, something I haven't done that I always wanted to do. I did have an idea for something, it was really cool and would be awesome and excellent, but I probably won't do it/am not doing it.. I think it's a big much to take on really, to do properly, and I don't have my hats, I mean my people. It kind of depends on the world not really ending or changing in any significant way that would precipitate the nonexistence of youtube, for instance.. anyway. Luckily, I won't be alone and me and Erik will have a few last days to hang out together and at least get drunk and stuff. That is if it all ends.. I mean, it's possible we will be drinking again while celebrating Christmas in a week.

Just get me more coffee..

The day I get to grumble.

I know, it's something I usually never do, but today is a very particular day on which it is appropriate to "air one's grievances".

Festivus, a little known holiday where you get to er.. air your grievances. Semi famous for being featured in a very popular 90s sitcom. Anyway whatever who cares.. here they are. (my grievances that is).

Acting "career". Grievance being, well, my need to put the word "career" in those quotes.. don't have one, still going nowhere, did like one film this year, and no theatre or really anything else, as usuall the infrequent auditions I go for come to nothing, well one recent one but I went for a quite a few over the last month and one of the others I really liked the sound of and thought I'd have a good chance at.. and the stuff I've done is poor and small in number. I keep meaning to do a lot more but for one reason or another, usually quite poor reasons, I don't. *grumbles*

Lack of money. Don't have much money. This is because of my job, which pretty much sucks, well it's an ordinary job that I like as much as any I would do, but there are only so many hours I can do it, and at the moment the season is slow and I'm making next to nothing.

My job. Well, it sucks. I mean, it's not bad but it's like any job, which sucks. One reason being I don't make much but there are other reasons.

My latest upload on youtube doesn't have a thumbnail. I mean a proper one.. you know, a bit from one of the clips of the video. This vexes me.

Other stuff.. lots of it. I could be here all day.

Oh yeah.. the world, people are poor, there's violence, illness equality, other bad things. Work it out world!

Yeah, did another one of our episodes.. this one about trains. I don't really like it but I put it up and I'm linking it here anyway. These episode thingies are not going exactly how I envisioned.. this envisioning which began long ago and has finally been done a few times after many false starts.. but I've liked most of them, kind of. this one.. er.. I dunno.. I know sometimes you have a bad day and anyone can have times when they don't have much to say that's interesting.. though of course when the subject is trains how could that be ;)... but I've realized, and particularly after doing, and viewing this ep that.. I'm just not that good at this. The idea was to be interesting, funny, silly.. and i take it so fucking seriously? I mean... Erik's cool, he always says something witty but I'm always trying to get us back on the boring track. Don't know why I do it.. I suppose I can train myself out of it, anything can be learnt, or unlearnt. Oh well.

Been shlepping, rushing, waiting and.. well let's be honest spending plenty of time farting around, it's something I always manage to find time to do, but I've gotten stuff done, so you can be proud of me.

Speaking of.. just before I go, I don't want to forget, you know that thing? The thing I was going on about for like, ever, and never did anything, and then I did something but couldn't show it, and then I didn't do anything for a year and then I did and I fucked it up again, and then I did something else and for some reason didn't upload it, and then a little bit later did more and finally I uploaded an intro to the actual thing I'm doing?

It's gaining on us..

Off for a big adventure again in just 3 days. On Saturday we're going to Berlin to spend a few days before going to London where we hopefully get to spend 4-6 hours in the city and then fly to Vancouver. Then we have a wedding and bat mitvah and a bunch of dinners and hopefully some seeing of the city and surrounding environs.

I really should get some sleep, but there's packing, cleaning, making sure all loose ends are tied together.. not forgetting anything, editing videos and uploading.. oh, did i mention? I finally uploaded something from that stuff I've been talking about for ages. Well.. the beginning portion, the intro that leads to the main part of what I'm doing so.. well here it is. I mean.. not much, the quality's bad, the sound is bad, I had to edit it in youtube's editor because when I converted the weird file the video was taken in everything was out of sync and.. well anyway, editing is average at best, but whatev.

So.. I really need to be doing stuff, proper stuff like, ya know, getting ready.

I'm on my way..

To fame, critical acclaim, wealth and general stardom. As a film maker I mean.. not to say I'm not gonna still do all the other stuff, but I'm getting somewhere with this.



I mean.. I still have to learn how to use the camera properly, and probably get a better one, that's primarily for film, and a tripod, and all that equipment stuff and learn how to use it. And come up with ideas for stuff to film, write scripts, get locations, actors, crews.. all that. Oh and learn something about editing.. maybe get a decent program that can do it.

Other than that I'm set.

Is it this century already?

I just got a new internet connection, through some wi-fi LAN telephone thingy, not sure what it is exactly, but it's really fast. It's great! I can actually watch youtube videos without them stopping for 25 seconds every 5 seconds. I don't know how I survived before. Increasingly people with blogs and sites are just linking to youtube for everything, and I wasn't even bothering to look at the stuff before. Now I can! A whole new world has opened up for me, it's amazing.

Oh and I got tv with the deal as well. Not cable but lots of channels, I get MTV and everything. Now I can keep up with what's going on with Christina, Justin.. er Kylie, Jason, Rick Astley or whatever it is the young folks are listening to today. I used to be kinda out of touch but no more.

I wonder how long it takes before someone comes here by looking up Rick Astley. Hmmm.
