a bit of moaning for a change

I feel the need for a little glamour in my life. Or at least hot water.. oh to have lovely flowing golden hair... to feel worthy of puttin on something nice, that looks nice and is.. nice, even on these gloomy so called Spring days.

The hot water situation continues. In case you don't know what I'm talking about on account of a) not having read where I wrote that, or b) because I didn't write that, well we got no hot water here. And no heat and no working stove which actually does matter just as much as the hot water being off but not what I'm focusing on now. It's been weeks. It's vexing. I'm simultaneously used to it and utterly sick of it.

I have washed in that time, either kettle baths or at the pools but it's not the same. I'm a 21st century Westerner living in as civilized part of the world as any, I guess, I shouldn't be having these problems. I should be whining about a computer that keeps jamming or about the weather, which I am, but I shouldn't have to be dealing with this too! No fair.

Things Actually Happen.

So.. I've been a bit quiet around here of late.. just got out of the habit of posting.. and what a week! There are at least like.. 3 things worth mentioning.. at least, 3 things that I feel worth mentioning. Well.. last post was a photo from a trip to Krakow, that was fun.. journey there and back, I shan't be doing again, the train, 8 hours, overnight.. in a regular seat. For small parts we got a whole side to ourselves each but.. didn't last long as people kept getting in, and out, and the train stopped at a certain shitty station in the middle of skuzzy Nowhereville Czech republic and actually turned around and went back twice.. both ways, and for ages.. will hold a grudge about that pointless shitty down forever Bohumin.. I mean.. who the fuck even knows where that is? So.. the being in Krakow was awesome.. apart from a bit of tiredness.. the weather was lovely, we stayed in a nice flat in an awesome area, saw stuff.. and found a lovely restaurant which we'll go back to when we go back to Krakow which we will but just not on the train or at least not on regular seats. Oh and beer.. we had beer. Had a couple of tests for my tour that I'm supposed to be doing but am not yet.. and a lot of studying.. in essence I failed both, but, it's more of a training process and I'm getting there but I was hoping to be working much earlier so, mildly vexing but overall ok. Most important thing is, they fucked Flickr! They made it all new and exciting and vibrant.. which obviously sucks, because it used to be calm and boring and fast loading and you could see the pictures and how many comments and views there were and you could arrange your photostream in 2 columns with the sets down the side so when you uploaded 2 shots or an even number of shot sa day you could make sure your sp from the 365 project was in the left column and.. well.. I'm old and cranky and don't like it.. damn those kids with their ipods and tablets and general modern stuff! I've been fuming about it.. well a bit, for the last 3 days and at some point I'll get used to it and either start using it less.. just forget it ever bothered me or eventually leave it all for Ipernity which is just like Flickr except it doesn't have massive big "thumbnails" taking up your screen and you can see the text and stuff.. ie, like it used to be.

Oh and our water was gone. All morning, had to go out all stinky cos not only couldn't I shower, I couldn't even have a proper "whore's bath" as it's known as colloquially.. cos.. no water obvs. It seems the goobers that have been working on our road for the past month knocked something.. it seems to be back now, though trickling down very thinly. It's always something it seems.

Elements and elephants.

There are way too few occasions that the title sentence is appropriate for, but I just realized, that there is one, was one. I wish I'd thought about it 3 weeks ago just after said occasion but I didn't.

So now I'm using it. Sad, I know. Anyway, it relates to the day o Vinobrani which I wrote about just after.. and as you may remember, there was an elephant. Now, I rarely get to be anywhere near an elephant on it's own, but you may not be aware, that at this wine harvest celebration there were also elements. Ok, so I hear you saying, "there are always elements! it's always raining, or windy, or sunny or something!" Yes, I know, and I don't mean that, I mean that the 4 elements were present, that is Earth, Wind, Fire and Water. Or ladies dressed up as them.

So yeah.. elements and elephants.

It's always something..

There I was, yesterday morning, leisurely getting up at whatever time I dann well wanted, which as pretty early come to think of it but that's not important, without a single scheduled lug up the stairs, have myself a coffee, mess around on the internet.. decide I'm a bit thirsty so I go to pour some water and...

NO BLOODY WATER COMES OUT!

Kept trying.. but nothing, after an hour, tried, but nothihng. Suddenly I was really really thirsty. Fun.

A real fun fucking day... it will go down on the annals of history as the (about 4 or 5 hours out of) day there was no water in (some parts of) Vršovice and possibly Vinohrady.

And I don't mean something piddly like no hot water, I mean no water running at all! No way to make another coffee, to have a drink of water, or even rinse an apple or anything! And of course I was thirsty, needed a shower and didn't have any food that could be consumed without being boiled. Yes, that bad. It was so bad I had to go downstairs to the pub, where they were keeping afloat by bringing in water from a truck outside.

So then I came back and it was on.. um.. ok so it doesn't seem all that traumatic now. Still.. I didn't really need it at the time.
