Circular reasoning maybe but what is art anyway? Can anyone completely define it? No! *ignores everyone who immediately define art in an elegant clear way, leaving no room for doubt on what it exactly is* So that's established. Therefore, art, or whatever is meaningful or enjoyable or giving of a sense of accomplishment for you, is valuable in it's own right. Like all the crap I do that I wish I could both do a lot better and get more views/clicks/attention on, but nevertheless do it and will continue doing it just for my own reasons, sometimes to have a bit of a diary of my life, for future me, even sometimes because I get an idea, this one is rare because usually I'm doing "stuff" because "stuff" is what I do and it's time for daily/before too long has gone by thing, and I've got no idea so I just start typing, or press record, or.. whatever.

What has this to do with your comment? Well, apart from being words that kind of form sentences, little, but this seems to be a preferred method of communication here so it fits. Someone who resonates with my deeply held sense of the absurd and relative nature of life. Someone who can engender at least a frisson of excitement when showing in my inbox. You understand me? And you'd be forgiven for thinking, given that I'm modestly able to convey a sense of humour and personality in general, that I'd be successful in this quest? Well hah fucking hah, you'd be wrong.

Despite the constant working and re-working of profiles, long and detailed, short and pithy, all I generally muster are ladies of my generation or above - assuming I'm in my dotage and in need only of quiet, hand-holding company - and/or young African women (allegedly) of the assumption that old geezers are desperate geezers, responding reflexively at the mere sight of a pic showing a young "hottie", accompanied by the irresistible legend - "hi!". Anyhoo...

Valiantly, I soldier on, ever fine tuning or starting afresh, a profile, to the extent that it's become the whole point, with thoughts of "the next great correspondent" hardly ever occurring. That's right, profiling has become an end in itself, and success lies not in the amount and quality of response, but its opposite. No response, or a blatant display of not having read my profile, has me inwardly punching the air in triumph. Honestly, I kid you not. Well, not much. Okay, okay, it's all irony. Let me know if it's effective.

So how does this relate to your post? Well, it has something to say about the process of writing, of writing itself being an absolute necessity. Just because my profiling efforts reap little rewards, doesn't mean I'm going to stop writing... no way Pedro! I honestly do get a measure of pleasure out of my "ads". But talking of irony, the biggest irony of all is that I often slake my thirst to mess with words, on the comment section of your blog. What you might call drivel, makes sense enough for me to respond, and often at length. I'd be fucked without it.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
